What do SA, NSA, SAAR, YoY, MoM, QoQ, and CA mean on charts?

Here's a quick reference for common statistical terms on MacroMicro charts:

  • SA (Seasonal Adjustment): A statistical method that removes seasonal effects from data
  • NSA (Non-Seasonally Adjusted): Raw data without seasonal adjustment
  • SAAR (Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate): Seasonally adjusted data expressed as an annualized rate
  • YoY (Year over Year): Growth rate compared to the same period last year
  • MoM (Month over Month): Growth rate compared to the previous month
  • QoQ (Quarter over Quarter): Growth rate compared to the previous quarter
  • CA (Calendar Adjustment): Adjustment to account for differences in the number of working or holiday days across months

If no label is shown, the data is typically unadjusted (NSA).
